Alicia Russell Tagert joins the ensemble of Eric Sean Fogel’s sparkling new production of The Rake’s Progress. A debonair stranger, Nick Shadow, appears to Tom Rakewell and tempts him with the chance to reimagine his future. As Nick conjures a series of enticing adventures for Tom, Anne Trulove fights for Tom’s salvation. Written in Stravinsky’s neoclassical period, Stravinsky’s only full-length opera score sparkles with elegant vocal writing and lively dance rhythms.

Alicia Russell Tagert creates the role of Rafaela in the long-awaited world premiere, The House on Mango Street. The House on Mango Street, a coming-of-age classic, has been acclaimed by critics, beloved by readers of all ages, taught in schools and universities alike, and translated around the world. Novelist Sandra Cisneros, winner of the PEN/Nabokov Award for Achievement in International Literature, has teamed up with Grammy-nominated composer Derek Bermel for an opera inspired by her classic book, which unfolds in a series of episodes seen through the eyes of a young girl. Through a series of interactions, which range from fascinating to funny to frightening, she comes to understand that storytelling is the medicine she can offer her community — and herself.

Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition (Georgia District)

The Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition (formerly the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions) is a national competition for aspiring opera singers, with opportunity to advance through the district and regional levels to sing the semi-final and final round of auditions on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC.

Ms. Tagert will perform competitive audition repertoire in the first round of the competition in a live district audition hosted in Atlanta, as she and other sing compete to advance to the next rounds.

25th Anniversary of the Lotte Lenya Competition

Alicia Russell Tagert was named a finalist in the 25th annual Lotte Lenya Competition, hosted by the Kurt Weill Foundation. A singing competition unlike any other, in which acting counts as much as vocal talent, this competition requires a wide range of repertoire from classical opera to contemporary musical theatre. The Lotte Lenya Competition showcases talented singer/actors to show they can "do it all" by presenting four contrasting theatrical songs and arias.
