Ms. Russell sings the leading soprano role of Sylvie in MassOpera’s workshop production of Freddom Ride by American composer, Dan Shore. This new opera explores the story of young students and citizens in 1961 New Orleans who face opposition and difficulty in their mobilization to participate in the Civil Rights Movement. Directed by Tazewell Thompson and conducted by Lidiya Yankovskaya, this workshop performance receives its debut in Chicago at Chicago Opera Theater in 2020.
